As the native Long Islander poet Walt Whit- '«"—

man wrote, in his "Song of the Open Road",

Afoot and light-hearted
I take to the open road.
Healthy, free, the world before me.
The long brown path before me
leading wherever I choose.

St. Joseph's is a stop along the "open road" Whitman
writes of. The road of life. When we leave here, we
continue our journey along this road. Whether we enter a
graduate program, or the business world, we will be all the
more prepared to choose in which direction the road will
lead us. And the number of choices is endless . . .

^ \k

When our life first starts, most people follow the beaten path. We
attend grammar school, junior high and high school. But then the
choices set in.- Do we go to college right away? Do we get a job, or
even get married? Or do we choose a combination of these?
Whichever it is, each choice brings with it other choices. A veritable
potpourri of choices await us. Through much thought and preparation,
notwithstanding SOME spontaneity, we try to choose wisely.
Sometimes we succeed, sometimes we fail, but always we are moving
on. Moving on to a world full of life, adventure and learning: learning
about ourselves and the world we live in, moving on to bigger and
better things.

St. Joseph's is a step in that journey, and though it will always be a
part of us, now comes a time for the inevitable moving on. We, as
seniors, have our whole life ahead of us. The world is ours- if we
choose to take it. St. Joseph's College helps to prepare us for our
journey through life- and for that we thank the college, the staff and
faculty, and all those involved in our college experience. We hold
these times and memories dear, and will look back on them with
fondness. And so we take our leave. We go forth: where we can, as
best we can, and as much as we can. We strive toward that ever
elusive dream of happiness and contentment. Always we shall work
toward it; always we shall be 'MOVING ON".

There comes a time in one's life when certain people touch us in very special ways.
These people leave a mark on our very souls. This mark can never be suppressed or
easily forgotten. As time goes by we begin to rely on these people and trust them as if
they were part of a special family. We begin to realize that in the lowest times of our
life, these people are present to show us the light at the end of the tunnel. These people
also share in our happiest and proudest times. We share with them the joy of a job well
done, and they award us with that ever-important "pat on the back". They are there for
us when we need to be told we are right, as well as wrong, when nobody else will. We
soon realize that we have a different, unique, and special love for this person. We know
that life without this person would leave a vast emptiness and void that could never be
filled again. We grasp at every moment shared with them and pray that these feelings
of joy and fulfillment may last forever. However, we know that they cannot. When we
part with these people we feel angry, hurt, and even forgotten. We know deep down
that time can and will heal- if we let it. We soon begin to realize that these people are
gifts that God has so graciously given us. Although these gifts don't always last for long,
we feel privileged to have been blessed with them. We call these gifts, these people, our
friends.

Sister Virginia passed away. She was one of these very special people - she was a gift
from God. She was our friend. As Dean and Vice-President of St. Joseph's College, she
was ever present and strong. She was always concerned, caring and loving. She was a
person who dedicated her whole life to helping us experience all the joy and strength
that education can bring. She was determined to make St. Joseph's College the very
special, warm, and important learning establishment it is today. To her memory we
dedicate Horizons 1986 and work to continue this tradition. Sister Virginia - you will be
sorely missed. We will always love you and we will always remember you.

COACH
FRANK R MULZOFF

Coach Frank B. Mulzoff has served the college commu-
nity for six years. His dedication to the sports program in
St. Joseph 's has propelled the basketball team to become a
competitive force in collegiate basketball on Long Island.

Coach has made it possible for many other teams to be
established within the program, and has given every ath-
lete an opportunity to participate in sports. He has been a
friend, companion, and teacher to many of us. We will
miss you. Coach, you have taught us what the word "dedi-

TAKE TIME TO REMEMBER

Take time to remember

It is the refuge for experience

Take time to anticipate

It is the dream of the future

Take time to search

It is the source to new discoveries

Take time to pursue ideas

It is the course to a better tomorrow

Take time to give

It is too short a day to be selfish

Take time to compete

It is the chance to show your true self

Take time to laugh

It is the music of the soul

Take time to be friendly

It is the road to happiness

Take time to pray

It is the greatest power on earth

Make each day the best day of the year.

For tomorrow is not here yet.

Yesterday is gone.

And the present is almost around the corner.

Make the most of your happiness now

So time can make today

One of the best memories for tomorrow.

How proud we all are of you today, this special day of your graduation from Collegelll
We've all been through your studies, successes and sports with you, even when you were
attending College in Florida. Since you first started elementary school, right through Junior
High, High School and your three colleges, we've all been so very proud of youll Because,
you have never let us down. You've always given 100% of yourself with your efforts and
the results have always been proven by your final results. Your marks bear witness to the
fact of how hard you try along with your music and athletic achievement, especially with
the Volleyball bear the mark of a true champion competitor.

We know how frustating it can get at times, the routine, the studying, the practices, etc.
But, today is the end result, the fruit of your labors and we all want to thank you for
making it happen and for having us share in it with you.

God bless you always, our darling and know how very much we all love you

Thank you Stacie.

What more could I

Ask of you

Than what you have

Already given:

Your laughter and dreams

And worries and schemes

In a word:

Yourself.

Your friendship is

The best gift

I could ask

Because it will

Never grow old.

Never fade.

Never become just

A memory, but

Will live on

Forever . . .

Susan Braiiy ...All the times we smiled at nothing and lauglied at everything and the times I lied and you would swear to it. Thanks for being there and for be-
ing the most special friend anyone could he. You're welcome to share my rainbow anytime, Sweetiel (Anna)

Anna Vinicombc: We wanted to study in Michael's apt. and we couldn 't figure out how to turn on the lights, when you went to get your blow dryer out of the
closet, and when we went to the beach and fell off the fence. Always remember the cruise & our glasses on the bottom of Caribbean Sea.
